REACHING YOUR GOALS
Posted by admin on Aug 22, 2011 in Weight Loss Success Stories | 0 commentsI spent a great weekend with other Beachbody Coaches in the Kansas and Missouri area who are focused and wanting to make changes in their lives and the lives of others. Whenever I leave a function like that, I am mindful of the importance of setting goals.
Look back at accomplishments in your life and think about how you went about making them happen. I can have an end “product” in mind and stay busy working on “things”, but not necessarily reach my goal. I get closer to the desired result when I set goals. Here are a few things I have learned in the past year about goals.
1) Write them down. Until you write a goal down, it is just a wish. Once you write it down, it becomes real and something tangible. You know how when want to purchase a specific model of car and suddenly you see them everywhere? That’s not because they magically appear; it’s because your mind is focused on that model and it becomes “real” in your mind. The same happens when you write down your goals. You become “intentional.” Your goal becomes more real, you focus on it more and things start to happen.
Arnauld Nakaha, Beachbody sales director in our area, pointed out that “your greatest successes in life will come 2-3 steps outside of your comfort zone.” Without writing goals down, it’s easy to procrastinate because doing otherwise, isn’t always comfortable. Write down your goal; make it real.
2) After you’ve written down your goal, assign a time line to it. Decide WHEN that goal will be fulfilled.
3) Write down the activities you will need to do to achieve your goal. If you have a goal that you want realized, what will you need to do on a daily basis to make sure it happens? Arnauld pointed out that “success will be determined by how well you align your goals and activites.” You may fail! You may have a goal and just not reach it. That’s OK. Re-evaulate, write your goal down again and give it a different end date. And keep moving forward.
4) Make sure to DO those activities. Chalene Johnson is a huge proponent of the “to-do” list. Every night, make a list of the things you have to do the next day to make sure you’re accomplishing the activities that are required to achieve your goal.
5) Keep your eye on your goal every day. Write a word or two that summarizes your goal and put it on your bathroom mirror. Or put a picture of your goal “realized” where you see it daily. Keep that goal in the forefront of your mind and do what it takes to get there. It’s worth it!
You can achieve anything you want! It takes belief and perseverence. Write down goals in all areas of your life: business, relational, spiritual, health. Create balance in your life! It takes writing it down and methodically doing what it takes to get there. It won’t happen overnight but it will happen. You have to keep moving forward; writing down your goals will help you put one foot in front of the other, day after day until you wake up and see that you are living your dream!
